Héctor Casanova was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. As a teenager, he immigrated to the U.S. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design/Illustration and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute. He has been living and working as an artist and freelance illustrator in Kansas City for the last 10 years. His published comics work include The Lurkers, written by Steve Niles and published by IDW, and Screamland, written by Harold Sipe, and published by Image Comics (2008).
In 2000, he founded The Green Door Gallery in the West Bottoms, an alternative space dedicated to showcase new and up-and-coming artists looking for a place to push the boundaries between art and popular culture.
