It has been 17 years since Bill Watterson discontinued Calvin and Hobbes.
I still remembered the speculations on how he would end the strip.
Will Calvin grow up ?
Will it all just turn out to be a dream ?
Or will it be another gag like any other day ?
He put a close to the story by leaving the door wide open.
He marks the end of the chapter with Calvin and Hobbes leaving on
another adventure. A new world just full of possibilities, and there
they go on their sled, away from the readers. Leaving us dumbfounded
and rooted in our real lives.
The invitation is there. To turn away from the page, to look and
marvel at our own world.
