Additional information
Caipirinha
This cocktail is made with cachaça (alcohol from sugar cane), sugar and lime. The drink was created as a reflection of the strong sugar cane culture in the countryside of São Paulo in the 19th century. Ingredients originated from the sugar cane were easier and cheaper to come by, so it started to replace European wines and other drinks at parties. The name “Caipirinha” comes from the world “caipira”, which refers to someone who, like the caipirinha, comes from the countryside.
